Hey Everyone-
SUPER important, if you want to stay a follower of my photography blog... In the next month or so I will no longer be blogging at the blog.carlycarlson.com address. I'm trying to find a way to sync it up to my new location so we don't lose a bunch of readers along the way, but I'm having issues with that right now. Plan A and Plan B have both fallen through! :( So I'm letting you know RIGHT NOW, that if you follow this blog in Google Reader, or any other feedreader, you will also want to add the following to your feedreader (http://feeds.feedburner.com/CarlyCarlsonPhotography) right... now...

Just a quick tribute to my seniors this year! You are all awesome, I'm so excited for you all to go out into the world and be awesome.

Now... 2011... can you believe it's already time to start thinking senior pictures for the class of 2011?! Kills me! Can't wait for this fall!

Albums!! | About time, right? :)

So I am pretty sure I promised to blog my gorgeous albums like way back when... so finally, here they are!

First, these larger albums are perfect for telling your wedding story. They come in 8x8, 10x10 and 12x12. They are printed on Fuji Archival Crystal Paper (the best of the best in my humble opinion), full-grain Italian leather covers that melt like butter in your hands (and age beautifully), and tons of colors to choose from. They are simple meets luxury...

I personally design every album I sell (even my senior albums!). I don't reuse templates, I don't purchase templates from other photographers- every single album is 100% custom designed. What's so great about that? Well, since every wedding & every session is unique, and since I was there and personally invested in that wedding or session, I design based on my experience. Your album will tell the story of your day just as it was. And these leather albums are the perfect way to tell that story. Hello fellow bloggers! Thank you guys so much for voting for me on Justin & Mary's blog! I actually WON! I am pretty excited for that little Home Depot gift card- great timing for a little shopping spree! :)

The last few weeks | Enjoying being a mommy of 1!

Stella & I have been spending a lot of time together being goofy, reading books, and of course taking photos :) Pretty soon there will be another baby in the house and Stella won't know what to do with herself! And I'm pretty sure I'll be a little overwhelmed too... So, for now... we're enjoying these little moments and trying to just relax!

A big thanks to the wonderful Alyssa Henry for snapping a few shots of my beluga sized belly!

We had a lot of fun and I am really excited to share the news, finally now that I have a few photos to prove it! So, the rumors are true. The Carlson's are having another baby. Want details?... The ultrasound tech says it's a girl so that's what we're planning on! I am actually 32 weeks along, so we're getting to the end now. Due in July... and... I have massive heartburn. TMI? :)

It feels really weird putting up photos of myself on this blog, but thankfully Alyssa did a great job!

Well. Now you know.

What does this mean for Carly Carlson Photography? Well, obviously I'm not really taking any summer sessions this year. No weddings this year, either... and the Fall has very limited booking opportunities. So basically, if you are planning on a fall session, let me know ASAP so I can get you on my calendar!

I do have to say I am super excited to be posting a ton of newborn photos here in a few weeks! (Oh, and the no longer being pregnant part will be nice, too!)

I'm actually a little sad this is the last prom mini post for 2010! This was probably the most fun I've had all year. And this group?! Seriously! 14 people! It was a LITTLE crazy, but so fun.

Stella's Nana got her some pink western boots and a sweet cowboy hat! She LOVES being a "cowboy" as she calls it! She's been super sick for quite awhile, but we're hopefully in the clear now! I think being a "cowboy" helps this little one feel a little better no matter how sicky she is.

The last couple of weeks have been a ROLLER COASTER! So I am making huge apologies to anyone who's emails/phone calls/IM's have gone unanswered... I'm catching up as fast as I can! :)

We've been sick, my husband has started a new job, and then we had some little monkeys come visit us for a week!

My husband's sister (so... my sister-in-law) and her 2 kids came to visit from Washington state. It was so wonderful to have some time with my sister-in-law, but it was especially fun to watch my daughter Stella play with her cousins! She doesn't get to see them very often, so it was a real treat to have them here for a week!

It's been a whirlwind couple of weeks... but I promise there'll be some fun stuff on the blog ASAP!

I love all of these awesome blogs where photographers are posting their clients shoots as well as personal things about their own families, but I have the hardest time opening up in that way on this blog! I don't know why- I just feel really protective over my family. Mother Hen mode kicks in as soon as I begin uploading a post about the cute things Stella is doing, or how awesome my husband is, and I delete the post before it's been published. Besides, my life is incredibly boring for the most part! But, while I may never be as awesome as Tara Whitney or Jonathan Canlas or Sheye Rosemeyer or any of those other awesome photographers at posting personal work on this blog- I will continue to work harder at it. (I think I've promised this before?? haha)

Today, I quickly snapped these shots of Stella just as she woke up and walked into the living room to greet me for the day. It wasn't until after shooting that I realized my ISO was at about 4000! haha :) Love that grain!

And this is another one from this morning, I just think she's the cutest thing ever. :)

I'm challenging myself by using some of the other lenses in my arsenal a bit more. These were shot with my 28mm 2.8, wide open. I really do love that lens, I have no idea why I never use it.

Man, it's about time we got a new post up here am I right?! I have been INSANE busy! I'm teaching classes at the Crossroads Arts Center here in Baker City on how to use your SLR camera, I'm shooting, album designing, wedding announcement designing, snuggling with my cute Stella, and getting taxes ready! (Is anyone else feeling the tax season crunch?! EW!)

Anywho- now for AMANDA! Dang girl, she is gorgeous! We had fun on her session, even if I did biff it and walk around with muddy knees and shoes for a bit! :)

Peter came to me with an open mind but a clear idea of what he wanted. I think we worked really well as a team to come up with good ideas for his senior pictures- to get something different but not totally off the charts different. He had access to a really sweet old building and we avoided the ghosts in the creepy rooms... May or may not have been a little scary! :) Anyway I just had so much fun working with Peter and I'm excited for any projects we may collaborate on in the future. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday sweet girl!

It's no secret that I have one of the cutest kids in the world. See for yourself... :)

I love my girl... but she was seriously one of the most uncooperative subjects I've had in a long time! Good thing she's cute! :) A big thanks to my mom, Stella's Nana, who came along to do tantrum control. Such a big help!

Stella's cute hat is handmade, my friend Jenessa is amazing. As soon as she has a store up I will post it for you. Her sweater, shirt, & dress are all from Children's Place and her boots are from Target... (because a couple people asked, ok!)

Carolyn | Pendleton High School Senior rep

Carolyn is my senior rep for Pendleton High this year and I couldn't be more excited! She came to Baker for her session and rocked the fancy dresses!! We had a blast in the freezing breezy weather... well, I had a blast, but I wasn't the one in a strapless dress! :)

Dustin & Brandy had a night time wedding at Riverside Park in La Grande, OR. The lights and music made the whole night so magical. Their wedding was simple, allowing the focus to be on what was important - the couple & their families. It was really a joy to be involved in their wedding. I especially loved the vintage elements Brandy threw in, from her hairstyle to the music she chose to have playing as guests arrive- if you know Brandy you know she loves vintage and she rocks it! It was fun to deviate from my typical editing style and experiment with some more vintagey colors that I felt reflected Brandy's style more. Fun fun...

If you access your proofing gallery via carlycarlson.com, by clicking on the "clients" tab and entering your password, take note that in the very near future you will no longer access your gallery this way.

I now have a brand new shopping system for my clients- it blows the old one out of the water. I'm really excited to have all of my clients on the new system, however the transferring is taking much longer than I'd originally expected! Once your new shopping cart is ready, I will either call you or email you the information. If you wish to order prints and you have not yet received your new proofing gallery access information, please call me ASAP and I will make your gallery change a priority. We had some special visitors from Ohio last week- we felt so special that they wanted to come see us! :) We went to college together and had some good times... Sheena and I were pregnant with our kids at the same time, too, and they were born about a week apart! It was so great to see our kids playing together!

We had a quick mini-shoot with them, and I had to share.

Don't you love the storyboard of Riley?! Storyboards make great gifts, and look super cute in kids rooms. Great way to get your favorite shots all in one, too! (And I love designing them!!)

I really believe anyone can be a natural in front of the camera, it all just depends on the circumstance. For Megan, she knew she'd be most comfortable with her best friend Taylor tagging along. It is so important to make sure the people who come along on your session are people you don't mind posing in front of- being comfortable makes for some great pics! Take note, future seniors! If you're most comfortable with your parents around, bring them! If you'd rather fly solo, say so! It makes a big difference, trust me.

Megan was so fun to hang out with on our session, and I think she had fun, too! :)

Aly was SO much fun- she could hardly keep a straight face and laughed through her whole session. She's one of those rare people who you wonder if they ever have a bad day, or if they are just permanently happy. Not to mention, she's a total babe! Good luck Aly- you're going to do great things!

Matt & Emily | Summer of Love WINNERS

Time for some honesty, because let's be honest, who couldn't use a little more honesty in their lives? Here goes... All too often I think I forget the whole reason I'm doing this photography gig. I find myself caught up in the rat race (photography has become more than a little competitive...), wanting to get better and better and somehow prove myself to those who are further ahead than me. I want to be impressive to them. And so I miss the point. But... My clients bring me back to Earth. They melt my heart, they show me that there is absolute beauty in being human. And that there is no competition in that beauty- we all share it, we all embody it. I love to get a beautiful couple in front of my lens, to capture their true love and to come home and be touched to tears because of how perfectly imperfect they are and how awesome that is. Am I making any sense? Probably not... but the fact is I am grateful. I'm grateful for my extremely human clients who trust me and who are just as in love with their "perfect imperfections" as I am. And that is why I'm doing this. And I don't care who likes it, who approves of it, or how well-known my work is. At least I'd like to think that's how I feel about it, but let's not forget I am human...

Remember when Matt & Emily won the Summer of Love contest? They are in love a little bit. And I love them for it... because it was way fun doing their session!

I saved the last one for last because I knew there would be some questions on it. :) So I have an old Argus Seventy-Five that I rigged for Through the Viewfinder (TtV) shooting. You can google it- but basically I built a tube around the view finder and shot through the tube with my camera. I got a couple really cool shots that I liked- this camera is pretty dirty and so I got a lot of neat texture and the borders looked just as grungy as I wanted them. So in Photoshop I just picked my favorite shots and made a little "storyboard" out of them. Sweet!

My uncles family had a big family reunion recently and that meant I got to get some of the cutest patoots in front of my lens! Aren't these little boys gorgeous... ahem... handsome?!

Adam & Courtney | The wedding!

Adam and Courtney were so much fun and their wedding was classy meets casual. I loved their hay ride to Burger Bobs for post-ceremony french fries, the gorgeous cake and the initials branded into the centerpieces at the reception... everything was really well thought out and nothing was overdone- just really beautiful.

And, they are a really sweet couple with a huge circle of family and friends who love and support them. It was neat to see all the people who came from all over for this wedding- including the governor of Oregon!

They complete each other- and you can really see it when you're around them. These guys have got this whole IN LOVE thing down!
